Domino smiled and winced as he saw the puffy mark on her arm. He gave a small smile and looked around the white room again. HE spotted the clear glass cup of water and handed it to her. Sorry, I guess this wouldn't have really happened if I hadn't gotten you into the mess with Alex. Even then, you wouldn't had to rescue me and could have lost less blood when you got here, without me.
Domino stood up again from the side of the bed and walked into the hallway. All the doctors turned to look at him. He growled. The nurses in the nurse station quivered as he waited. Smiling he asked for the doctor Katelyn had told him about. She came around the corner and smiled, no she beamed. Domino gave a half hearted smile and walked back to the room where Katelyn was. The doctor followed, he thought a moment, what did she shift into?
Domino sat on the edge of the bed, he felt like he knew Katelyn. Yet they were only friends, and that was all he asked. For friendship, nothing more. The doctor took Katelyn’s vitals and then sat down and adjusted a few things and left the room after giving a beam. I don’t like her either… she too… happy, all the time Domino turned and looked at atelyn and stuck his tongue out in a stinky fart face.
The doctor came back in and Domino forgot she was one of them… she could hear really well. He blushed, and then she left. Mad. You know… I can make anyone mad at me Domino smiled and looked at the curtains, wondering how many shifters had been in this hospital and.. Died. How many lived and how many were discovered, or not…

Katelyn smiled and laughed a laugh, but her neck burned as she did so. Then she heard what Comino said. "I could never be mad at you, and don't think like that. I might just have to do to you what I did to Alex. I'm glad I met you, and I'm glad I spent this night with you. And really, I am used to pain like this. I'm a cop, remember?" She smiled. She was starting to like this boy whether she knew it or not. "You're probably the most fun I've had with in a long time." She said as she smiled again. She looked out towards the hall and saw Emma passing and then going the otheer way, everytime she passed she was doing something else.
"If you're curious, which I know you are, she shifts into a dog just like us.... That's how we met. She found me when she was out looking for a few things. I was beaten up. Only seven years old. She told the police cheif about me and he soon adopted me after hearing my parents died. We've been friends ever since." Katelyn smiled as she watched Emma come back in with paper work.
"Okay, Kate, I've set everything up. Greg is getting your other car that you left at our house. That way it doesn't have blood stains in it. He'll meet you out back in a few minutes." She smiled as she went over to Katelyn, picked her wrist up and then put two fingers on the side of it as she took her pulse. "You're all normal. You can leave whenever you want, but if you want to leave, I would do it in the next few minutes. I earased all the records of you being here and..well, you know everything else from past times." She smiled again.
Katelyn nodded her thanks and then said, "Thanks Emma. I owe you one." Emma smiled a soft smile and nodded. "Consider us even." She said as she walked out but then came back in and gave Katelyn a bag. The bag contained a whole new wardrobe, and a stitch kit just in casse she tore her stitches out... like the last time she was there.

Domino smiled and looked at the doctor. Thanks Katelyn, makes me feel better ‘Emma’ walked in and told her they were free to go. Domino stood up from the side of the bed and gave a hard glare at the doctor, she made a pfft sound, raised her nose and walked off. Domino chuckled.
Guess you don’t need me to take you to your house… Domino gave a soft smile and grabbed his leather jacket from the chair in the side of the room. He was about to walk out of the door when the doctor came back in, and glared at him. He snorted and walked out, shoving past her. The doctors stared at him as he left, Really?! Will you just go back to work! The doctors started to mumble and talk about him.
Domino rolled his eyes and walked through the hospital doors. What Katelyn didn’t know was on the seat of her car was his number. The bloody one. Trotting from the door he rested and put his Jacket on, it glowed slightly as fire erupted from his core. He collapsed and he yelped in pain and could feel his bones snap. Wanting to cry out, but his throat twisted. He could feel everything… shift. Skin ripped and fur exploded over his body.
The black and white border collie stood, tired and weak where Domino had been standing. Leather jacket placed on the dogs body. He whimpered and then turned and ran. His jacket the only clothing on him still, it was a trick he learned. To not only have his cloths on when he was human, but to shift and keep them on, they shifted when he did, but he learned how to just keep his leather jacket on, and comfortable.
Domino trotted along the street, cars passed by him and eyes peered through the tinted windows, he could hear the children mommies the puppies gunna die though! We got to take him! Their parents argued, saying he had a home because he had a jacket on. They drove passed without a second thought.
Domino saw the city lights come into view and crossed the street. Cars honked and he made sure that the headlights stayed away from his body. A car got close and he had to leap, landing on the hood of the car. He growled and snapped at the window then leaped off and trotted along the highway again. He had been thinking, maybe he should stay as a dog? Life was so much easier as a dog… He fell on his side, a car had struck his ribs. He laid on his side and whined. The left side of his body felt numb. The people around him got out of the car and picked him up, vision faded in and out. The last things he heard were, He’s got broken bones, he needs to vet! He was placed in a car and the leather seats felt warm.. He whined where was his jacket? A human pet his head and let him sniff the jacket, he relaxed and black around his eyes took over.
The room around him looked white, he whined and kicked his legs up. A human hand caught him, a growl slipped loose. This one is going to be difficult. He laid back down and relaxed, wanting to cry. A hand rubbed his left side and he clenched his jaws. He defiantly had broken bones, ribs. The person said something in a different language and he looked up into the mortals eyes, he stared back. Knowing something was off about the stray collie. never mind John I’ll cast him up and he’ll be fine. Domino relaxed, relieved, metal in his body would make his shifting process much more difficult. He paused and thought about Katelyn, then a small needle poked his rump and he whined and put a paw on the mans leg and looked in his eyes saying, please be kind…. The man looked at the dog, astonished. They wheeled him off and blackness crept in, Katelyn help me… something’s bound to happen, bad…

Katelyn had a bad feeling something was about to happen. She clenched her jaw and looked out the window that was to her right. It was dark outside. She then looked at the clock on the wall and saw that it was two AM.
Katelyn took the bag Emma gave her and then quickly got dressed in a speed record. She zoomed out the door and into the hall way, looking for Emma's familiar face.
Katelyn spotted her in a room and quickly knocked and told her a simple thing. "I have to go.... Now.." She said as she rushed down the hall. She had given Emma a bag with all her stuff in it including her police things. They had to confiscate her gun when she was taken in unconscious, for they did not know what sate she would be in when she woke up. They didn't know if she was even going to wake up with the serious wound she had in her neck.
Katelyn went out to her blood stained car and then opened the door and quickly got inside. She spotted a piece of paper on her passenger seat where she had been sitting. She didn't remember Domino leaving anything....
She picked up the paper slowly and then looked at it. It had the name Domino written at the top in neat handwriting, then numbers below it. A cell phone number. Katelyn quickly reached for her phone inside the bag that she got from Emma. She flipped it open and then dialed the number. The phone rang, waiting for reception from the other phone, but there was no answer. She dialed again and it rang twice, then there was an answer on the other end, but not from Domino.
A man spoke into the phone. "Hello?" He said causiously. Katelyn looked around. "Who is this?" She said with a hint of anger to her voice.
"This is the Dr. Bradly at the vet's office, who am I speaking to?" "Katelyn Bentley Todd. I'm with the police, and did you say vet's office?" "Yes ma'am, I did." "Where did you find this phone?" "In the pocket of a jacket. We were contacted and are now taking care of a dog with three broken ribs. He had the jacket on. It was a brown leather jacket." He said into the phone. Katelyn could hear rustling of papers.
Katelyn put her hand to her mouth. She felt like screaming. Domino was hurt. "Domino is with you? There, at the vet's office?" She asked into the phone. "I guess that would be his name, do you know who's dog it is?" He asked thoughtfully. Katelyn had an idea. "Why he's my dog. Do you mind telling me which vet's office you're at, I have no idea how he got off. One of my kids must not have locked the gate, I am terribly sorry." The man cleared his throat. "Well, he is ready if you want to come pick him up. All I have to do is fix him up and he's good to go."
Katelyn smiled evily. She had a plan. SHe always did. "That would be perfect. I'll be there in two minutes." She said after the man told her where the office was at.
Katelyn put her foot on the gas pedal after starting the ignition. SHe zoomed out of there at top speed, ignoring all traffic laws. When did she not?
Katelyn drifted into the parking lot of the vet's office and quickly ran inside. A new gun in a holster around her waist, and her badge hanging from a beaded necklace around her neck. She quickly took it off, and then clipped the necklace around her waist that way it would not irritate her neck any more with her wound from the gun shot.
She opened the door and ran to the counter. They told her to walk to the back and see the doctor. She rushed up to DOmino the dog and gave him a kiss on the snout. "Awe, my poor baby!" She said as she took his face between her hands then kissed him again. She looked at the dotcor. "How bad is it?" She asked with water building up in her eyes. "Not serious, he'll live, but it'll take a few days to revcover. MAybe even weeks." He said reasurringly to Katelyn.
Katelyn said thank you to the dog and then kissed the dog again. "Let's get you home, shall we?" She asked Domino.

Domino could feel someone touching him, he growled not enjoying the place he was. As the black cleared from his eyes a familiar face made him wag his tail. A floppy pink tongue darted out when she leaned over to kiss his snout and a slobber kiss drenched her face. He gave a doggy grin, about all he could manage in his weak state and then closed his eyes again. A small whisper came from his maw when he heard the doctors leave him alone. Breathing hurt like hell, Thanks, you didn’t have to come. I could’ve made a break when they left me alone for a while. They might be a little shocked but who cares, I’d be gone. Domino grinned slightly then took a sharp breath when a rib hit the wrong spot. and I’m thankful because breathing hurts like hell alone. Walking would be hard to do.
As he said that a doctor rolled in a stretcher and loaded Domino onto it, the collie whined and let his body go limp like any normal dog would do. Just to help you to your car. Walking might be hard and he’s quite heavy. Domino smiled, stupid doctor, doesn’t know how strong they both are. The doctor didn’t question more and walked Domino into the check out room and waited for Katelyn. Domino knew he could break away once outside. The place was his own hell. Now he knew why dogs hated it here. He had things shoved up his butt hole, fingers in his ears, people poking and prodding then the worst was the rabies shot they gave him and all shifters have a type of rabies, a deformed one stronger then the rabies vaccine and undetected in the blood stream to other mortals. It’s what gave them the fire to shift. Anyway, it hurt like hell when the stupid regular rabies hit his own deformed one, it was like war inside of him, only it hurt worse.
Domino opened his eyes, dogs stared at him, they knew he was different and the humans held their animals back. The owners didn’t know a thing, what a shame. Yet it was also good for poor old Domino, testing would hurt worse then anything he had ever been through, and he had been through a lot.
The reception lady rubbed his head as they waited for Katelyn. Domino wanted a dog. The urge came over him as a small border collie came rushing in with people helping it to walk. The poor thing looked skinny and hurt. Some one shouted about puppies and she was due to give birth. Domino was gunna come in later and find out about this dog. He was a dog, yet he had no dog. He wanted a damn dog. He was gunna get a dog, the thoughts ripped through his one track mind quickly then he forgot as pain surged through him when the stretcher moved and he blacked out again. Yet he smiled, he could feel the old leather jacket on his back again, phone in his pocket. Releif flooded over him the jacket was the one thing that he loved with all his heart, it was the thing that hadn't ever left him, the only thing that hadn't ever left him even through thick and thin, it also symbolized what he wanted his and Katelyn's friendship to be like...
